How to control your Google account

Last year, Google launched Inactive Account Manager ( http://bit.ly/inactive338 ), which lets you control what happens to your Google account and all the data stored in it when you die. You can choose to share your photos. emails, videos, documents and more with a trusted friend or family member, or just delete the whole lot.

To specify your, posthumous preferences, click the Setup button on the Inactive Account Manager page (you can also access this at (http://www.google.com/settings) and set a timeout period, from three to 18 months. When Google detects that your account hasn't been used for the specified amount of time, it will treat the account as ‘inactive’ (you’ll receive an alert first, in case you’re still alive and have merely switched to a different service). You can name up to 10 contacts to notify when this happens, and let them download your data from individual services, including Blogger, Drive, Gmail, Google+, and YouTube. You’ll need to provide phone numbers for each person, so they can be sent a verification code to access your data.
Once this is done (or if you've bypassed this step altogether because you don’t want to share anything), you can ask Google to delete your inactive account. Click Enable to turn on Inactive Account Manager.

Secure Your Browser With Password

Anyone you share your computer with will be able to see every website you’ve visited in your browser’s history (unless you browse incognito). They can also install and uninstall add-ons, alter your default settings and access accounts you have saved login details for. Fortunately, you can keep nosy parkers out by locking your browser with a password.

Firefox has a built-in Master Password feature you can access through Options, Security, which safeguards your usernames and passwords. You can improve this with the Master Password+ add-on ( http://bit.ly/master340
which lets you lock the entire browser. You’ll be asked to enter it when you launch Firefox and after the browser has been idle for a specific length of time. You can protect your privacy in Chrome by setting up separate user accounts, but a better option is to use ChromePW ( http://bit.ly/chromepw340 ).

This extension locks the browser with a password (you can also set up a hint in case you forget it) and closes Chrome automatically if someone tries to bypass the password by terminating the add-on through the Windows
Task Manager.

Microsoft has removed the option that let you lock Internet Explorer with a password, but you can stop individual settings being changed through the Group Policy Editor. Go to Start, type gpedit.msc and press Enter. Open Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Internet Explorer to access options such as ‘Do not allow users to enable or disable add-ons’ and ‘Prevent deleting download history’. Double-click a setting and choose Enabled to turn it on. Note that Group Policy Editor is not available in Home editions of Windows.

Get the best of iOS 7 on ANDROID

There’s no need to abandon your Android device if you’re tempted by iOS 7. Here I reveal seven ways to steal the cleverest new iPhone tools for Android.

Get the iOS 7 look on Android
The flat cons and pastel colours In iOS 7 aren't to everyone’s taste. When YouTube user Derek Coiling installed the new lOS on his iPad, his young son Jack was heartbroken (bit.ly/ijack330).

But if you like the new look, which Apple describes as eschewing the skeuomorphic panache of earlier iterations”, or if your just curious to know what that means. Espier Launcher iOS 7(bit.ly/idroid330) will give your Android a full iOS 7 makeover for free. The effect is disconcerting. It really does look like Apple has invaded your Android device. Your existing app icons are rnorphed into iOS 7 versions and you can store them in iOS-style folders, Everything still functons as before. including your widgets and shortcuts, so the app effectively merges iOS 7’s looks with Android’s brain.

Get the parallax effect
Some love it, some hate it and others are made nauseous by It. The iOS 7 home screen

adds a touch ci the 3D experience to make Its icons float when you move the phone around, and this so-called “parallax effect"  has been making some users seasick on dry land. For more on the science of this phenomenon, see bit.ly/sick330.. If you feel you can handle a bit at 1 motion sickness. iOS7 Lock screen Parallax HO (bit.ly/parallax330) brings the tilts, zooms and rolls of iOS 7’s parallax effect to your Android, along with an iOS 7-style lock screen and Control Center toolbar app. The iOS 7 Live Wallpaper 3D app (bit.ly/wallpaper330) isn't as slick, but it has some very pretty OS 7 backgrounds with optional parallax animation.

Get a passcode lock screen
Once you've installed Espier’s Launcher. there’s a whole family of plug-in apps that you can use to mimic other iOS 7 features. For example. Espier Screen Locker iOS 7 (bit.ly/locker330) lets you lock your phone with an iOS 7-style slider and optional passcode PIN.
Once you’ve disabled your system lock and set up the Espier version (see our Mini Workshop, top-right), your lock screen will be indistinguishable from an iOS7 lock screen except that It’s . not encased in an Phone. You can then customize the name of your phone, change the Slide to unlock’  text to something else and, for an in-app purchase. Customize the sound that your phone makes when you lock, unlock or charge it.

Get the fingerprint lock (sort of)
Not even the cleverest setting-tweaks will let you recreate a bio-metric fingerprint scanner on your Android phone (although HTC has Just announced a new Android handset with a fingerprint  reader). But you can fool people into thinking that you have. Fingerprint Lock Screen (bit.ly/finger330) and iOS7 Fingerprint Lock (bit.ly/print330)  are genuine screen-locking apps based around non-genuine fingerprint scanners. Fingerprint Lock Screen is the most iOS 7-like, in appearance at least, and we like that it says your name when you unlock the phone successfully.

Get the Control Center
One of the most coveted features of iOS 7 Is the Control Center, which appears when you swipe up from the bottom of the screen to give you instant access to the controls you use most often: Wi-Fi, screen orientation, music player, torch, and more. Easy Controller Control Center (bit.ly/control330) adds this widget to Android a long with the option to open  It anywhere on your screen. The tool outshines its Apple original because you can choose from an even bigger range of controls to include, such as an auto sync switch, map app shortcut and screen timeout settings. Espier has also created a Control Center for Android (bit.ly/escontrol330). Like the Espier Screen Locker. it’s a plug in that only works if you've got the Launcher Installed. As with iOS, you can also choose whether to make the Control Center accessible from within other apps.

Get iOS-style notifications
Espier Notifications OS 7 (bit.ly/not330) is another free plug-in for the Espier Launcher. This one lets you see all your app notifications in the style of iOS including red notification
badges (the dots you see on OS app Icons) or, If you've install led Espier Screen Locker iOS 7. banners overlaid on your lock screen. It’s quite useful for merging multiple notifications from individual apps. but other than that it’s just a slightly tidier way of getting your familiar Android notifications.

Get AirDrop, but better

Getting files on and off an iPhone or Pad has always been a pain, and Apple’s awkward tile transfer is well known even to Pod owners So it’s easy to see why the new AirDrop tool, which lets you share files wirelessly between your phone and your PC and with other users, seems revolutionary. But in truth. AirDrop is nothing to get too envious about. The superb free ES File Explorer (bit.ly/filex330) ach eves the same thing on Android devices. And while AirDrop can transfer between devices, even when they’re not on the same Wi-Fi network, that’s hardly new if you’re used to Dropbox (bit.ly/drop330). If you have a Samsung Galaxy S3 or later, the
built-in S Beam tool sends files to devices near and far (bit.ly/sbearn330). And AirDrop only lets you send files to another user with AirDrop for which you need an iCoud account and an iPhone 5 or above.

Android developers have more than matched AirDrop. Airdroid (bit.ly/air330) lets you take complete (and secure) control of your phone or tablet via your Desktop browser. You can send and receive text messages from your PC, locate and lock your phone or tablet when It’s lost, wipe its data remotely and, of course, transfer files without a cable. It was voted App of the Year by Android Police ( www.androidpolice.com), and its user reviews are the stuff of app developers dreams (our favourite: “It’s like WD-40 but in a software version”).

How to Shutdown Computers atSchool Remotely

Today again im come with new tips.
Shutdown computer remotely.

Im Ravi prakash singh show you how to do.

::: This tutorial is for educational
purposes only. Anything you do
with the knowledge you have
learned from this tutorial is your
problem

:::: Requirements ::::

- The school must be connected
with a LAN Network - You have to
be able to create .txt files and save
them to .bat files. (Most schools
don't block this)

1) Right-click on your desktop.
Navigate to "New" and then to
"Text Document"

2) Open the Document and type:
shutdown.exe -i Save the .txt file as
a .bat file.

3) Open the .bat file. "Remote
Shutdown Dialog" should pop up
when you open it.

4) Click "Browse...". All computers
connected to your LAN Connection
should be in the list. When you do
this in school, you can target
specific rooms if the school admin
organized the computers. In my
school, I can search for "LIB" and all
the computers in the library will be
in the list.

5) After you find the name, click
"Add..." and type the computers
name (EXACTLY), and hit "OK".

6) Now, you have a few options
before you make their computer
shutdown. You can make their
computer: Shutdown, Logoff, or
Restart. After you picked the type of
shutdown you want to do, you can
choose how long the message will
stay up for. Default on my computer
is 20 seconds.
<- If you don't want to be caught,
set it to a low number so they can't
see who forced the shutdown.

7) Set a comment! You can type in
the "Comment" box to make the
shutdown dialog say something.
For example, if you type "You are
stupid" in the comment box, the
shutdown dialog will say at the
bottom "You are stupid".

If you need any help feel free and comment here..
Thanks.

How To Fix The Windows Registry Hive Error

Most techs with a few years of experience under their belt have probably come across the Windows XP corrupted registry hive problem at some point in their career. When it happens, Windows wont start and will present one of these messages:

  •  Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
  •  Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SOFTWARE
  •  Stop: c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE or its log or alternate

In most cases, Safe mode wont work either. The Uniform Approach to fixing this is by getting into the Windows XP repair console and manually replacing the file with the copy that was created when the system was first installed. However, any software or drivers (depending on whether it was SOFTWARE or SYSTEM that failed) that was installed after that point may not work since the registries for them hadnt been installed back then.
Here is my method that I have been using to fix this. It reverts the registry to only a few days earlier rather than back to when Windows was first installed.

Note:
You will need access to a working computer to create a boot CD. You will also need a fairly good knowledge of computers, BIOS and registry editing in order to do this. This article is aimed towards computer technicians.

1.
If you don’t have it already, download UBCD4Win using one of the Mirrors here . If you do already have it on a CD, skip to step 3.

To run it, create an ISO and burn it to CD you can read the instructions here. I wont write the instruction here because the ones on the previous link are better and this article is more targeted at computer technicians and most of them already have this CD.

2.
Once the CD has been created, goto the BIOS and make sure your CDRom is set as the first boot device. Start up the computer with UBCD4Win in the CDRom and you will have some boot options. Choose the “Launch The Ultimate Boot CD for Windows” option.
It will take a few minutes to load fully, but when it does you should see a Windows XP like interface like in the picture below:

3.
In the UBCD4Win interface, goto Start > Programs > Registry Tools > Registry Restore Wizard.

4.
The program will then ask you which Windows registry you want to repair. In most cases, it’ll be C:\Windows. Choose the copy of Windows you want to repair and press Next.

5.
Choose “Fix the system registry to that of a previous state” and Press Next.

6.
You should now see a list registry restore points. Choose one with a date a few days before the issue first occured.

7.
Wait a few seconds for it to restore the registry. Press Finish and restart the computer. The issue should now be fixed. If not, it may be a sign of a greater issue like hard drive damage.

Thanks for visiting.

PC Troubleshooting Tips Why is My PC Crashing?

Nothing can put a damper on productivity quite like a computer that crashes on a regular basis. Sometimes, a crash is preceded by the dreaded “blue screen of death” or another warning; other times, a computer simply shuts off without any warning at all. In either case, the end result is a whole lot of frustration, aggravation and lost work. If your computer has been crashing frequently, you’d probably like to put an end to it. Unfortunately, getting to the bottom of things if often easier said than done. The following tips about improving your computer’s performance, though, are excellent places to begin.

Possibility #1: Corrupted System Registry Files
Every Windows-based PC has something called a Windows registry. The registry contains several files that are integral to the performance and operation of your computer. Over time, some of those files can become corrupted, be misplaced or get lost altogether. When that happens, the system registry becomes compromised – and frequent crashes are all-too-common symptoms. The best way to rule this possibility in or out is by running a Windows registry cleaning program. Such programs scan your Windows registry for problems then automatically make repairs. If you run a registry cleaner and the crashes persist, they are probably being caused by a different issue.

Possibility #2: Disorganized Files
Windows operating systems handle file organization in a way that isn’t very intuitive. Basically, they break files up and fit them into gaps in the computer’s memory. As time goes by, these disorganized files can prompt frequent crashes. Luckily, a great optimization solution is built right into Windows-based PCs: the disk defragmentation utility. Although its location on a computer varies, you can generally locate it within the System and Security section inside the Control Panel. By running a defrag once every few months, you may be able to keep those pesky computer crashes at bay.

Possibility #3: Malicious Software
Malicious software can take many different forms. Sometimes, it’s a virus that is accidentally unleashed after opening a strange email; other times, its adware that tags along with other information that is automatically downloaded from a website. Whatever type it is, there’s no question that malicious software can wreak havoc on a computer’s performance. Happily, there are many topnotch programs out there that regularly scan your computer for the presence of such problems – and that help guard against them, too. Buy one, install it and use it regularly; your crash issues may come to an end.

Possibility #4: Too Little Available Memory
When you buy a new computer, it feels like there’s no end to the amount of memory that it has. Of course, this isn’t true at all. As never-ending as the available memory on your PC may initially seem, the fact is that it can be depleted with incredible speed. You can find out for sure by checking the information within “My Computer.” If it appears that your available memory is low, you can use a PC cleanup program to remove unnecessary files; such programs remove things like temporary Internet files and other file debris that can suck away much-needed memory.

Possibility #5: Overheating
If you’ve run through all of the preceding possibilities and continue experiencing frequent crashes, a hardware issue could be to blame. An easy one to rule out is overheating. A computer’s CPU, or central processing unit, includes a fan that is designed to keep it running cool. Sometimes, the fan wears down and doesn’t work as efficiently; other times, it’s just not able to handle the work that your computer has to do. In either case, buying a bigger, better fan isn’t very expensive. If it puts an end to your PC crashing problem, it will have been more than worth it.

Don’t Put Up with Frequent Crashes!
As discussed, frequent computer crashes can be triggered by a wide variety of issues. Luckily, many of these issues are relatively easy to remedy. Work your way through the preceding list; chances are, you’ll be able to pinpoint the problem and put an effective cure to work. Nine times out of ten, a computer simply needs a little bit of routine maintenance to get it back on track again. In the future, keep these points in mind. Any time you buy a new computer, keep up with its basic maintenance right from the get-go. By doing that, you could avoid “blue screen of death” and crashing problems altogether – and that’s something that you’re bound to appreciate!

Speed Up Firefox by Loading Tabs On-demand

Published by  Ravi
Firefox users who are used to having fifteen or more tabs open while surfing the web, or perhaps tend to load up their browser with a bunch of open pages from their last session, will surely know the impact this can have in terms of performance. It may not be a major issue on powerful desktop PCs with processing muscle and memory to spare, but you can bet more modest rigs and most laptops will struggle trying to pull up a huge list of pages at the same time.
Luckily, there are ways heavy tab users can ease the memory-guzzling effect that their browsing habits can have on their systems – and today we’ll specifically mention two: using the BarTab Extension or making a quick about:config tweak.
The aforementioned BarTab extension lightens Firefox’s memory load and prevents crashes by unloading tabs that you are currently not using but want to keep accessible. It can intercept when tabs are opened in the background or restored after a browser restart and will only load the content when the tab is actually visited. It also allows you to free memory by unloading already loaded tabs, either manually or automatically when they haven’t been used for a specified time.
It’s a pretty straightforward tool. After download the extension here, go to the add-on preferences window and you’ll see a handful of options where you can basically choose when to load or unload tabs, and you can also create rules for sites that you always want to keep loaded when their corresponding tabs are open.

If you are using Firefox 4 Beta.7 you can enable the core function of BarTab without having to install the add-on. Simply access the about:config menu (type it in the address bar and click through the warning message) and look for the key 'browser.sessionstore.max_concurrent_tabs'. Double click on it, change the value to 0 in the prompt window, and restart. Note that this only applies to session restores, not opening tabs in the background, but it can make launching Firefox considerably faster when multiple tabs are open, as only the one that is visible will actually load up.
The feature was just introduced in the latest Firefox 4 beta and by default it’s set to load 3 concurrent tabs at a time. So even if you don’t tweak this option you’ll notice faster session restores when multiple tabs are open, but instead of loading just the one you are viewing, it will simultaneously load three and move on to the next batch afterwards.

Lunecase harvests electromagnetic energy from iPhone to power LED alerts

Smartphone cases are so common that you can pick one up at the supermarket checkout stand, so for one to stand out, it needs something more than a print of a cartoon kitten. Built by Concepter, a company based in Kiev, Ukraine, the Lunecase is s a batteryless, wireless phone case that not only interacts with an iPhone, but also powers itself from the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the device.
Billed as the first intelligent iPhone case, the first prototype of the Lunecase was developed by Concepter in 2013 and made its debut at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The thin, durable case snaps onto the iPhone 5/5s/5c and the company says it’s ready to work immediately. Lunecase wirelessly links to the phone, allowing it to detect incoming text messages and phone calls, and flashes a notification on the back of the phone using LEDs to tell you that a message has come in and what type it is.

Where Lunecase differs from the herd of smartphone accessories is that its function is not only wireless, but so is its power source – as in it doesn’t need batteries. Instead, it’s powered by the electromagnetic field of the phone.

It’s not a unique technology. Induction is a phenomenon that’s been exploited by engineers for over a century and in recent years has been applied to personal digital devices to either charge batteries or directly power devices.

What’s unusual with Lunecase is that it’s used as a smartphone accessory that has to deal with sips of electricity. According to the makers, modern smartphones are very efficient and don’t emit as much radiation as old ones, so the trick was getting the Lunecase to work with much fewer leaked volts.

Lunecase is the focus of a Kickstarter campaign running through June 5 to raise money for the production phase. The campaign has already passed its target, with the Lunecase available from pledges of US$30 if all goes to plan.

Will the 2014 version of AVG on my Windows XP keep me safe?

AVG 2014 is still compatible with Windows XP but because Microsoft has ended its support for XP. Its important security updates for that OS have stopped. AVG. along with other security companies, recommends that our Windows customers upgrade to a version of windows that is still supported by Microsoft in order to receive those important security updates.

Also, as each version of Windows becomes more secure than the previous generation, we recommend using the most recent version possible. We would therefore recommend Windows 81 or, at the very least Windows 7 SP1. However because we still have users on Windows XP, we still support the OS. But we advise customers to upgrade to more recent versions.
